'Ruffle' Birthday Cake for Christina -- April 27, 2012

I made my sister Chris a 'ruffle' cake for her 36th birthday. It is such a pretty cake and Chris loves all things 'froo-froo'. It was fun experimenting as I had never made one of these before. I think it turned out pretty good. White cake - 9 in 2 layer cake on the bottom and 6 in 2 layer cake on top. 'Ballet' pink buttercream icing. I added the bunting first and then added fresh flowers to match the colors in the bunting. So much fun to make. I want to do another and cover the top in fresh roses...

Sesame Street Birthday with Elmo Cake! -- April 1, 2012

I admit it, this birthday theme is very near and dear to my heart.... All three of my kids had a Sesame Street or Elmo themed birthday party. Noah's first birthday, Rachel's second and now Kate's third birthday have all been celebrated with the muppets from 'the street'. I knew this would be our last chance for it and was glad she was still in love with all the characters. Even though we had the full themed party, I knew she had to have an Elmo cake - she had only been talking about it since November at Rachel's party... So an Elmo cake she had -- 14 in round single layer with the Wilton Elmo pan cake on top. I also made rainbow colored cake pops, rainbow fruit kabobs, rainbow jello cups with cool whip and colored sprinkles, Elmo candy pops using a chocolate mold, and Cookie Monster's chocolate chip cookies. I had so much fun with this party! I also served Big Bird and Elmo juices and decorated lollies with Sesame Street wrapping paper as a part of the party favors. The birthday girl was thrilled!  She had a great day and I say 'mission accomplished!'.  Here is a picture of our cute little 3 year old enjoying her big day--
