A Littlest Pet Shop Birthday Cake-- November 20, 2011

My daughter picked Littlest Pet Shop for her birthday theme this year and it made for a cute cake! We went big as we expected a lot of party guests and wanted to be able to feed them all. This is a three tier cake with a 12 inch bottom 2 layer cake, a 9 inch middle 2 layer cake and a 6 inch top 2 layer cake. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Stripes and dots were tinted buttercream icing. I also made Birthday Cake Pops with vanilla cake and vanilla icing, dipped into candy coating with sprinkles on top! Add in ice cream, fruit and cool whip and lots of colorful marshmallows and you have a very sweet birthday party! Happy 6th Birthday Rachel!!

A Princess Birthday Cake -- November 13, 2011

A Princess birthday cake for a sweet little princess who turned 2 today! Because this cake had to travel by car I didn't put all the decorations on - There are also 4 princesses that are supposed to go in front of the castle and on the second tier. So sweet! Cake is a 2 tier 8 in 2 layer and 6 in 2 layer vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Cake tattoos by Ace of Cakes added - they were the perfect colors to match the castle and princesses. :) Happy 2nd Birthday Abby!!! I hope you had a wonderful day!

Halloween Cupcakes -- October 30, 2011

I made up a batch of Halloween cupcakes just for fun for the kids -- They loved them! I made the witches fingers, skeleton fingers and werewolf claws from a Wilton mold and poured candy melts. The witches hats were fudge stripe cookies and cut down sugar ice cream cones coated in black candy melt. The small white skulls I made from white candy melts poured into an ice cube tray I found at the dollar store. The other candies were added on for decoration - so much fun!

Soccer Party Cupcakes -- October 29, 2011

I was asked to make the dessert for Noah's End of the Season Soccer cookout again this year. I whipped up some more soccer cupcakes and also, on request, made the chocolate peanut butter cupcakes. I made 4 dozen cupcakes and all but 2 were eaten! :)

Cake Pops!!!!!!!

I have always loved and admired this woman's work: Bakerella - Her cake pops and all of her other stuff as well is just, amazing! I had never tried to make any of these because honestly, they just seemed hard - but with patience, they were, quite literally, a piece of cake! My friend Laura came over to spend the day and that we did - rolling up cake balls (cake crumbled up with 3/4 can of icing for just the right consistency), freezing them, melting candy coatings, shaping some of them, dipping them, sticking on the decorations, making 'oops!' and making new characters out of them. It was fun. The kids absolutely loved them and I figured out that they weren't nearly as hard to make as I imagined them to be. We tried a little of this and a little of that - owls, sock monkeys, turkeys, mummys, reindeer, cats, chickens, ghosts, etc... My favorites were the owls. :)

Mickey Mouse - Take 2! -- 08/20/2011

Today I had another big Mickey Mouse order - this one looks to be a popular one. Already getting more questions about more of these cakes! I would so love to whip this up in pink with white polka dots and a Minnie Mouse! This order was basically a copy order of the previous one - Large 14 in round double layer cake with the Mickey cake stacked on top for a 3 layer cake. HUGE cake! A dozen cupcakes (chocolate this time) and then they added a 6 in 2 layer cake for a smash cake for the birthday boy. I hope sweet Christian had a very happy birthday today!! :)

Mickey Mouse Birthday Cake -- 06/11/2011

This is a 14 in round double layer white cake with the Mickey Mouse head cake stacked on top. This is a huge cake. I absolutely loved how it turned out. It was ordered for a 2 year old little girl's birthday party where the theme was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. One dozen matching cupcakes completed the order. Doug snapped a quick picture of me doing what I do while I was busy working. I have to admit, while it's stressful, I love the process - getting everything just so and the look on the kids faces when they see their cakes - priceless! :)

Soccer Party Cupcakes -- 05/20/2011

I whipped these up for Noah's soccer party at the end of his season. White cake with buttercream 'grass' icing and soccer ball picks. Lots of fun!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes -- 04/26/2011

These are definitely a favorite at our house! I was thinking one day, what if a reese's peanut butter cup came in cupcake form? I set out to make my own. YUM! The results were happy ones - for me and all the women in my family. lol These cupcakes were made for my sister's 35th birthday.

Disney Princess Birthday Cake -- 04/17/2011

This cake was made for another friend's little girl's 3rd birthday. She asked for a Disney Princess cake with lots of pink and purple icing - and that pink trumps purple. So cute. :) Two tier double layer strawberry cake with buttercream icing. I boxed this cake up to make a 2 hour drive to Ashville, North Carolina - I was so glad to hear little Elise loved her cake and that it was her favorite part of her day! Mission accomplished!

Phineas & Ferb Rollercoaster Birthday Cake - 04/16/2011

I made this cake for a friend of mine's little boy's 8th birthday. You might say this is the most challenging cake I have ever made. Wow. Phineas and Ferb rollercoaster cake made out of yellow cake and buttercream icing. They found a picture of a rollercoaster cake online and asked me to make a similar one with boy colors. Getting the top cake layers (the actual rollercoaster) in just the right places and getting it iced just right (by my standards) was tedious. The rollercoaster cars are made out of sugarwafer cookies that are iced and have the characters stuck in with toothpicks. All I can say after making this cake is - Whew! I'm glad that one is over! lol

Farm Birthday Cake & Horse Cake -- 03/27/2011

These are the cakes I made for Kate's 2nd birthday. She is really into 'horseys' and 'cows' right now, so I went with it. :) She seemed very pleased when she saw her cakes. The 2 tier cake is white cake with white icing 2 layer cakes stacked. I then added Duff's cake 'tattoos' with the bandana and cow print - those are so neat! It made the perfect farm themed cake and her farm themed sand and water table we got for her came with the perfect cake toppers. I always try to make a chocolate cake to go along with the white cake and the horse seemed to go perfect. These cakes were a lot of fun to make and made our birthday girl very happy!

Birthday "Tea Party" Cake -- 03/19/2011

I made this cake for my neice Emma's 7th birthday - a Birthday 'Tea Party'. Such a cute theme. It is a two tiered cake with each tier made of two layers with buttercream frosting. The top tier was chocolate and the bottom tier was white cake per my sister's request. Carnation flowers were added to the top and sides for decoration. Matching cupcakes with flower picks that my sister added after I finished frosting them. Loved how these all turned out!
