Mother's Day Cake - May 13, 2012
I made this cake for my mom for Mother's Day this year. It is a dark chocolate cake with chocolate icing surrounded in pirouette cookies and topped with fresh strawberries. My husband said I should have taken a picture of the inside of the cake (yes, I should have...) : ) to show how yummy it looked once it was cut. All the components went well together and were delicious!

'Ruffle' Birthday Cake for Christina -- April 27, 2012
I made my sister Chris a 'ruffle' cake for her 36th birthday. It is such a pretty cake and Chris loves all things 'froo-froo'. It was fun experimenting as I had never made one of these before. I think it turned out pretty good. White cake - 9 in 2 layer cake on the bottom and 6 in 2 layer cake on top. 'Ballet' pink buttercream icing. I added the bunting first and then added fresh flowers to match the colors in the bunting. So much fun to make. I want to do another and cover the top in fresh roses...

Sesame Street Birthday with Elmo Cake! -- April 1, 2012
I admit it, this birthday theme is very near and dear to my heart.... All three of my kids had a Sesame Street or Elmo themed birthday party. Noah's first birthday, Rachel's second and now Kate's third birthday have all been celebrated with the muppets from 'the street'. I knew this would be our last chance for it and was glad she was still in love with all the characters. Even though we had the full themed party, I knew she had to have an Elmo cake - she had only been talking about it since November at Rachel's party... So an Elmo cake she had -- 14 in round single layer with the Wilton Elmo pan cake on top. I also made rainbow colored cake pops, rainbow fruit kabobs, rainbow jello cups with cool whip and colored sprinkles, Elmo candy pops using a chocolate mold, and Cookie Monster's chocolate chip cookies. I had so much fun with this party! I also served Big Bird and Elmo juices and decorated lollies with Sesame Street wrapping paper as a part of the party favors. The birthday girl was thrilled! She had a great day and I say 'mission accomplished!'. Here is a picture of our cute little 3 year old enjoying her big day--

Star Wars, The Clone Wars Birthday Cake & More...
12 in round, 2 layer cake with buttercream icing -- My son wanted Star Wars, The Clone Wars again this year for his birthday. : ) He decided he wanted some of his favorite characters on top this year to do things a little differently. No problem! I made white cupcakes with light saber toppers, red, green and blue (light saber colored) cake pops and also 'light saber' pretzels to go along with the cake. He couldn't have been happier!

Christmas Cupcakes -- December 10, 2011
I made these cupcakes for my sister Chris to take over to the Radiation department at UT Hospital. It was her last radiation treatment and I know she was so, so relieved to be done with it all. She wanted to do something special for the people there that had been so kind to her. There were Chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, Vanilla cupcakes with candy canes and Andes Mint cupcakes (chocolate mint flavored cake with mint buttercream icing, chocolate drizzle and an Andes mint on top).

A Littlest Pet Shop Birthday Cake-- November 20, 2011
My daughter picked Littlest Pet Shop for her birthday theme this year and it made for a cute cake! We went big as we expected a lot of party guests and wanted to be able to feed them all. This is a three tier cake with a 12 inch bottom 2 layer cake, a 9 inch middle 2 layer cake and a 6 inch top 2 layer cake. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Stripes and dots were tinted buttercream icing. I also made Birthday Cake Pops with vanilla cake and vanilla icing, dipped into candy coating with sprinkles on top! Add in ice cream, fruit and cool whip and lots of colorful marshmallows and you have a very sweet birthday party! Happy 6th Birthday Rachel!!

A Princess Birthday Cake -- November 13, 2011
A Princess birthday cake for a sweet little princess who turned 2 today! Because this cake had to travel by car I didn't put all the decorations on - There are also 4 princesses that are supposed to go in front of the castle and on the second tier. So sweet! Cake is a 2 tier 8 in 2 layer and 6 in 2 layer vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Cake tattoos by Ace of Cakes added - they were the perfect colors to match the castle and princesses. :) Happy 2nd Birthday Abby!!! I hope you had a wonderful day!

Halloween Cupcakes -- October 30, 2011
I made up a batch of Halloween cupcakes just for fun for the kids -- They loved them! I made the witches fingers, skeleton fingers and werewolf claws from a Wilton mold and poured candy melts. The witches hats were fudge stripe cookies and cut down sugar ice cream cones coated in black candy melt. The small white skulls I made from white candy melts poured into an ice cube tray I found at the dollar store. The other candies were added on for decoration - so much fun!
